BPRS/Atlanta Convenes Panel to Discuss Online Communications

The Black Public Relations Society of Atlanta (BPRS/Atlanta) will host a panel discussion on Internet communications and marketing on Thursday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Georgia Power (Banquet Room), 241 Ralph McGill Blvd. Program speakers include Jerry Grasso, director of communications at Earthlink; Jim Lovel, reporter for Adweek; Shima Kelly, employee communications manager at UPS; Sophie Gibson, president and CEO, Sojo, Inc.; and Tom Lowry, vice president of process improvement at Macquarium.

The World Wide Web is perhaps the greatest public relations tool for small, medium and large-size companies seeking to communicate to multiple audiences, tap into new sources of revenue, and reduce overall costs while increasing their global presence. Since the economic down turn of the late 1990’s, the international community has witnessed a resurgence in both Internet-based businesses and marketing campaigns. Where does public relations fit into the online landscape?

BPRS/Atlanta has put together an in-depth and exciting forum for the PR and communications community to address issues such as blogging, viral marketing, trends and online media relations.

“We’re excited to bring together a panel of this caliber to provide a depth of knowledge and variety of perspectives to explore ways PR professionals can better understand the online community,” said Alicia Thompson, president of  BPRS/Atlanta. “With the immediacy of the high-speed Internet world, online users expect instant communication and results from businesses and organizations. The bottom line is the PR community needs to keep up to serve our clients better.”

The event is free and open to the public. Parking is free. Members and non-members are welcome.  RSVP to info@bprsatlanta.org.
